In theory, our PLA based compostable products could be recycled and remade into new products. However, there isn’t currently enough demand for recycled PLA products, so our current waste systems will typically sort them into landfill waste if recycled. No matter how they are disposed of, our products have a lower carbon footprint than non-compostable competitors.
No matter where they end up, our products will eventually break down into natural elements without leaving behind microplastics. Our reusable products and PLA based compostable products do not release any hazardous byproducts or toxic chemicals when they breakdown in environment.

No matter how they are disposed of, our compostable products are better for you and the environment than paper and plastic alternatives. They are made from renewable, plant-based ingredients, are safe for you and your family to use, and have a lower carbon footprint in their manufacturing processes.
We recommend that our products be taken to an industrial/commercial composting site. Since there is no standard for at-home composting environments, it is impossible for us to guarantee that our products will be fully compostable in a reasonable timeframe in your home composting bin.
We recommend that our products be composted in an industrial/commercial compost facility to ensure that they fully breakdown in a reasonable timeframe.
Some major cities including San Francisco, Portland, Minneapolis, Boulder, and Seattle have curbside composting programs. Contact your local waste management service to see if your city is one of them and find more information on how to properly compost our products.

The packaging for our compostable products is made from recycled materials as much as possible. It is recyclable, not compostable. The available packaging made from compostable materials does not perform well enough to ensure your products make it home clean and safe. On top of that it would add 20-30% to the overall cost!
We are committed to continuing our work innovating cost-effective compostable packaging that’s up to our performance standards. We hope to make all our packaging compostable soon.
