Are your Compostable products safe for me and my family to use?

Our compostable products are safe for you and better for the planet, which in our minds, is the ultimate safety consideration. You can rely on this:

  • BPA and BPS free
BPA, bisphenol A, is an industrial chemical used to make certain plastics and resins since the 1960s. BPA is found in plastics that store food and beverages, such as water bottles, baby bottles, and other plastic containers.

BPA is an endocrine disruptor — a substance that interferes with the production, secretion, transport, action, and function of natural hormones. BPA can imitate our body’s own hormones in a way that could be hazardous for health. Babies and young children are said to be especially sensitive to the effects of BPA.

Research has shown that BPA can seep into food or beverages from containers that are made with BPA. Exposure to BPA is a concern because of possible health effects of BPA on the brain, behavior, and prostate gland of fetuses, infants, and children.

Companies have recently began using BPS, bisphenol S in place of BPA, but it may be just as harmful.

  • Phthalate free
Phthalates are a family of chemicals commonly used in PVC plastic products. They have been linked to hormone disruption, cancer, and reproduction and developmental problems.

  • PVC free
PVC plastic contains a variety of harmful chemicals such as phthalates, lead and cadmium.

  • PBDE free
PBDEs are a family of flame retardant chemicals used in a variety of consumer products including plastics. PBDEs can disrupt our hormonal systems and have been linked to neurotoxicity, reproductive problems and cancer.
  •

    Chlorine free
Chlorine is used to manufacture many plastic consumer products. Chlorinated chemicals can cause cancer, harm your nervous system, and cause liver, kidney, and lung diseases.
